By now you have most likely heard of a the Social Media Platform named Foursquare. This Social Media phenomenon is another Social Media must-do for Bricks and Mortar Businesses.
What Is Foursquare? Foursquare is basickaly a "check-in" platform which is used on smartphones for users to check-in when they are at a certain bricks and mortar business, park, event etc. Once they check-in they start earning points that go towards badges on their social media page. While collecting badges can be fun, the main concept is to check-in so you can share with your friends where you are and then also see if they are nearby so you can catch up. So What does this have to do with Bricks and Mortar businesses? Businesses can take control of thier Foursquare Page, which has most likely been created by someone un-beknowns to you! You simply look it up with you address and then apply to take ownership of your page. By having ownership of your page you controll the details, making sure that all of your contact details and address are correct, but the BIG advantage, is that you can list specials only for Foursquare users!! Specials can be created with ease and when a Foursquare user is in the vicinity of your business, they will get a pop-up message on their phone listing your current special (eg. Free Cup of Coffee when you spend $10 & check-in with foursquare). Users will be required to show you or your staff that they have checked in on their phone to recieve the special. Where Do I Find My Listing or Create One? Type www.foursquare.com into your web browser and then search at the top of the page for your area or business. Take a look today and see if your business has had a place allready created on foursquare, if so, I suggest you sign-up and take control of your listing or create one so that you will have full control over your business on Foursquare.
